The District Red Cross Society was established in Hisar district in the year 1959  and since then it is working for the welfare of poor, needy, physically handicapped, widows and weaker section of the society. The main aims and objects of the Red Cross is relief to sick, suffering and wounded persons , hospital welfare, relief of soldiers, Maternity & child Welfare, to organize family planning Programme, Blood Transfusion services, disaster and emergency relief of all kinds.

                  

The society is working under the guidance of Deputy  Commissioner, Hisar.

 

The main achievements and activities of District Branch Hisar in the year 2004-05 are as under :-

 

ORTHOPAEDICALLY HANDICAPPED REHABILITATION CENTER, HISAR.

 

District Red Cross Society, Hisar is running a Orthopaedically Handicapped Centre, Hisar with the help of Social Welfare Department since 1994. The center is running a workshop as well as physiotherapy unit. During the year 2004-05, 43 Limbs, 01 Brace, 29 Surgical Shoes, 66 Caliper, 5 Splint,                27 Jackets, 07 Belt, 54 crutches pair and 08 other artificial limbs worth Rs. 199490/- were provided to poor/needy  handicapped persons.  This year society have  provided 22 Prosthesis, 27 Caliper with orthoshoes, 31 Pairs of Crutches,    17 Ortho shoes,  5 Splint , and 5 Belt L.S. till now.

 

PHYSIOTHERAPY UNIT

 

 The Society run a physiotherapy unit  in Red Cross Bhawan, Hisar since 1984 with latest equipments.  In this unit Lumber Traction, Cervical traction, Shortwave therapy, I.F.T., T.E.N.S. Muscle stimulator Wax Bath, Exercise Therapy are given to the patients after prescription of  qualified doctor. In 2004-2005 above mentioned traction were provide to 3150 patients.  This year the society treated to 1631 patients till now.

 

DISTRICT DISABILITY REHABILITATION CENTRE

 

The District Red Cross Society, Hisar is also running a District Disability  Rehabilitation Centre with the help of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment Govt. of India, New Delhi  on 90% grant basis. This year society have been provided 16 Tricycles, 18 Hearing Aids, 3 Wheel chairs and 6 pair of Crutches.

 

AMBULANCE AND FIRST-AID SERVICES

 

In Civil Hospital Hisar, Hansi and Mandi Adampur Society provide ambulance services for the transportation of patients on lower rate than the market i.e. Rs. 3-50/- per K.M.  Free services are provided to poor patients with the permission of the President, St. John Ambulance Association, Hisar.

 

The Association also imparts First Aid and Home Nursing Training in Schools, Educational and Vocational Institutions,  N.S.S. Units and Industrial Units etc. During the year 2004-2005  First-Aid./Home Nursing Training were imparted to 14748 candidates. 

 

BLOOD DONATION SERVICE :

 

This Society  organise voluntary blood donation camps with the help of Schools, Colleges, Vocational  institutions, Clubs and other NGO,s of Hisar District and provided blood to the Regional Blood bank, Civil Hospital Hisar and Maharaja Aggarsen Medical College Agroha. During the year the society organise 32 blood donation camps and collected 1182 units of blood.  This year 32 blood donation camps are organised in the Schools, colleges and other institutions and collected 1353 units of blood through voluntary donors for patients.

 

MATERNITY & CHILD WELFARE CENTRE

 

With the help of Health Deptt. a Family Planning Centre and Maternity & Child health Center is being run in Red Cross Bhawan, where qualified staff motivates the people for family planning and also provide facilities for small family norms. Simultaneously, society provide vaccine to the children for D.P.T., Polio, TT, BCG, Measles and Vitamin-A to control the blindness. During the year 2004-2005 , 25 Sterilizations and 17 IUD cases were done,      1253 nirodh and 61 Pkts. Oral Pills were distributed. Beside this in Immunization Programme 91 BCG, 82 DPT (Booster), 105 Measles, 86 Polio Vaccination,       35 Tetanus Toxiod (Mother), 53 D&T, 25 7 ml. Vitamin Solution and 31 Doses of   B-Hepatitis were given to the beneficiaries.

 

RELIEF MATERIAL

 

Society provides wheat, cloths etc. to poor and needy people time  and again. This year society distributed 810 Quintals of Wheat, 2 Blankets,           3 Pant-Shirt, 4 Ladies suits, 5 ladies sarees, 01 pair of Chapel, 2620 Kg Rice,     300 Kg. Dal, 30 Ltrs. Mustard Oil, 4 Cookers, 1 Bed Sheet, 1 Showl  and            13 Sewing machine to poor and needy persons.

 

During the year 2004-05,  105 Tricycles, 08 Wheel Chairs and         68 Hearing Aids were distributed to the needy handicapped persons worth Rs. 421070/-.This year society have distributed 75 Tricycles, 28 Hearing Aid and 03 Wheel Chairs till Now.

 

Apart from this Cash, medicines and Ex gratia assistance of Rs. 83252/- have been given to the poor and needy persons during the year.

 

WORKING WOMAN HOSTEL

 

 A hostel consisting of 18 rooms is being running by the society near Mahbir stadium, Hisar since 1991, Boarding facilities have also been providing to the Sainik Parwar Trainers Girls for Vocational Training Centre and Anganwari Centre.

 

HOSPITAL WELFARE SECTION HISAR

 

Hospital Welfare Section is an important wing of the Distt. Red Cross Society Hisar. This section is working for the welfare of Hospital, poor patients and  also poor students. Mrs. Deputy commissioner is the President of this section.

 

On the occasion of the Republic Day and Independence Day members visited the Civil Hospital, Deaf and Dum School, Blind School, Anchal mansik Vikas Kendra, Sewak Sabha Hospital, Jindal Hospital, Churamani & Vishnu Devi General & Maternity Hospital and Churamani janan Hospital and distributed fruits and Biscuits.

 

In winter season the members are visit the various schools and distributed the woollen jarsies/ Sweaters to the poor and needy students.

 

HARIS

 

Under the guidance of Haryana Revenue Department the society is running HARIS Projects in all the Tehsils  of Hisar District. In these projects Computerized Registration facilities have been  provided by the society. The society pay 10% share of total  income of HARIS projects   to  the Revenue Department Haryana and also provide help to District  Informatics & Technology Society, Hisar as per its demand/requirements.

 

E-GOVERNANCE  CENTRES

 

Society started e-governance centre in SDM office Hisar. In this centre Computerized Driving License and Vehicle Registration Certificate scanning facilities provided to the public. 

 

VISUALLY HANDICAPPED CENTRE (BLIND SCHOOL)

 

Red Cross Institute for Visually Handicapped (Blind School) was established in Hisar, the central place of Haryana in the year 1959 (under the parentage of Red Cross) the main object of this Institute is to educate and trained the Blind children so as to make them self dependent. Blind children of the age group of 6-12 years are admitted in this Institute irrespective of any consideration  like religion, caste, color and creed. Blind children form any part of India can seek admission to this Institute.

 

Education in this Institute is provided upto 8th standard in Braille language as per Haryana Govt. syllabus for which 4 Blind and One sighted teacher and 10 other official/Hostel’s employees are appointed .

 

  The inmates of this Institute are also given vocational training in the trade of Canning, Weaving and Music, in addition to the above, they are required to take part in indoor as well as outdoor games.

 

At present 44 Blind children are living in this Institution’s Hostel, The Institute provided all basic necessities of life free of cost i.e. food, clothing, Medical facilities and Education material etc. In this way about 17 lacs of Rupees were spent for the year 2004-05.

 

TREATMENT –CUM-REHABILITATION CENTRE

 

The Distt. Red Cross Society, Hisar is running Treatment-cum- Rehabilitation Centre with the help of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment Govt. of India, New Delhi  on 90% grant basis since 1989-90.  The society is running 15 beded hospital in Red Cross Bhawan for rehabilitation of drug addicts persons. During the year 2004-2005 the society provided treatment to 265 patients ( Opium, Alcohol, Smack, Marphine and other drugs). This year the society provided  treatment  to 60  patients till now.

 

 

HOME FOR MENTALLY RETARDED CHILDREN

 

The Distt. Red Cross Society, Hisar is running 2 projects for the welfare and training of persons with Mental Retardation and developmentally delayed children (i) Early Intervention Programme is for the children of 0-5 years of age and (ii) Anchal Mansik Vikas Kendra is provided training to the children above 5 Years of age.

 

 i)  EARLY INTERVENTION PROGRAMME

 

The Early Intervention Programme running in Red Cross Complex with the help of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment Govt. of India, New Delhi  on 90% grant basis since March 2001 for the help of mentally retarded and development delayed children. In this programme firstly, the  children who comes to the centre are examined assessed and evaluated by a multi disciplinary team and counseling is provided to the parents and advised to bring their children daily in the centre for training. The programme is being run in a spacious and well equipped building with all the essential facilities, where the children are assessed properly with the latest equipments by the specialized staff. During the year 2004-2005, 105 cases got benefit of regular training facilities at the centre. This year     53  children comes to the centre  till now.

 

 

ii) ANCHAL MANSIK VIKAS KENDREA

 

“Anchal” Mansik Vikas Kendra has been established in 1994 under the supervision and guidance of Distt. Red Cross Society, Hisar The Institute is spread over an area 1601 sq. meters of land comprising assembly hall, class room, Music room, play ground lawns wel equipped play room with varity of toys, vocational room extra curricular  activities room etc. At first when the child comes to the institute he is thoroughly examined and evaluated. For training the children are divided into deferent groups and educational & vocational training progamme were given according to the mental and personal level of the child. During the year 43 students took training regularly from this institute.
