Shivalaya Kameshwar located in village Kirmara has been the center of faith of devotees of the country and the state since ancient times. Regarding the Shiv Kameshwar temple of Kirmara, established since the Mahabharata period, the villagers tell that during the Mahabharata period, the Pandavas had pleased Shiva by worshiping here during their exile and established him in the form of a Pindi. The 800-year-old history of the temple is available in the Archaeological Department. Temple Seva Samiti member Dilbag Singh said that in Vikram Samvat 1837, the Maharaja of Patiala came here and worshipped Shiva and got the dome of the established temple constructed. Although there is a continuous flow of devotees at Shiv Kameshwar Dham every day, but in the month of Sawan, the beauty of the Shiva temple becomes unique in itself. Where devotees immersed in Shiva devotion are engaged in pleasing Shiva in every way.
Thousands of Kanwariyas have been fulfilling their wishes by pleasing Lord Shiva by bringing Gangajal with swing, sitting, standing, dak kavad in Kameshwar Dham Kirmara and offering it on the Shivling built in the Dham. Villagers say that whoever comes to this place with his wish, it is easily fulfilled with the blessings of Lord Shiva. On the occasion of Shivratri of every Sawan, a fair is held in the temple premises in which a large number of Shiva devotees from the country and the state come. Stalls and shops are decorated in the temple premises in the fair.
Under the direction of the chief Mahant of the Shivalaya, Munigiri Maharaj and Yugalgiri, a year-round and 24-hour Bhandara runs. Every day thousands of devotees take prasad of halwa, kheer, laddu, fruits etc. There is also a cowshed in the temple premises where the devotees become part of the virtue by serving the cows.
